Product Designer – (Mid-Level) Discrete Manufacturing
About the Role
The Product Designer will support the Discrete Manufacturing Business Unit, shaping modern worker experiences across. Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) products This role combines UX, UI, and user research with hands‑on delivery to define reusable design patterns and a design language that can scale across multiple products. Success is measured by task efficiency, adoption, and clarity for operators, supervisors, and back‑office users

8+ years designing SaaS, workflow, or mobile-enabled product
5+ years working with international product and engineering teams
Tech Stack & Tools
  • Figma (advanced UX and prototyping; components and design systems)
  • Miro or similar tools for discovery workshops and journey mapping
  • Mobile and responsive design patterns for dashboards and workflows.
  • Workflow and task‑based UI design for complex business processes.
  • Frontend awareness: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Angular (ability to partner closely with engineers).
  • Accessibility and usability for industrial, low‑light, and noisy environments.
  • Analytics and usage tracking awareness (e.g., amplitude, GA, Pendo, Microsoft Clarity or similar) to inform design iterations.
  • Agile methodologies and tools (Jira; Aha! Notion or similar).
What will you do
  • Own end‑to‑end design for key features and workflows, from discovery and low‑fidelity concepts to high‑fidelity prototypes and developer‑ready specs.
  • Partner with Product Managers and Engineering to translate manufacturing use cases into clear, efficient user flows.
  • Establish and evolve a lightweight design system (components, patterns, design tokens) that can be reused across MES, EDI, and ERP products.
  • Conduct pragmatic user research (interviews, usability tests, shop‑floor observations where possible) and turn insights into design decisions.
  • Use product analytics and qualitative feedback to iterate on designs after release.
  •  Facilitate design reviews and workshops that align stakeholders around problem framing, flows, and interaction patterns.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience designing workflow‑centric products, with clear documentation of user flows, states, and edge cases.
  • Strong understanding of operational and frontline user needs and constraints; experience conducting or partnering on user research.
  • Ability to design for speed, clarity, and minimal training, especially for busy operators and supervisors.
  • Proven collaboration with Product and Engineering teams; can clearly communicate design concepts and rationale to cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Experience defining personas and/or behavioral archetypes and mapping key user journeys.
  • Familiarity with AI‑powered tools or automation in the design process (e.g., for exploration, content, or pattern generation).
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple workstreams, and deliver on time in an agile environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complexity, adapt quickly, and maintain clarity in design solutions.
    Preferred:
    Discrete manufacturing or industrial software experience
    • Experience designing for shop-floor environments
Experience contributing to or maintaining a design system or shared pattern library.
