Role Summary

The Designer will produce a wide variety of design work within established brand guidelines, supporting all teams across the Society with both templated and bespoke print and digital projects. The role requires accuracy, consistency, and effective stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Complete a wide range of design and art-working projects using templates and established design styles within a defined brand framework
  • Produce reports, briefings, leaflets, event marketing materials, programme booklets, data visualisation/infographics, and digital assets
  • Build documents using grids and structure for precision and correct formatting
  • Format supplied text, conduct image retouching and colour correction, and suggest alternative image options
  • Create clear, engaging graphics and flow diagrams to communicate complex data
  • Guide stakeholders through the design process and advise on lead times and design solutions
  • Adapt and update project schedules using Teamwork Projects
  • Communicate project developments and delays to Design team
  • Respond to client enquiries and resolve issues or escalate when needed
  • Source imagery and iconography in line with brand guidelines
  • Ensure printed materials meet brief, deadline, budget, and quality expectations
  • Maintain organised project files using naming conventions and correct archiving
  • Accurately log time for all projects
  • Share ideas, knowledge, and best practice with the team to support process improvement

Qualifications

  • Relevant HE qualification and/or significant experience as a Graphic Designer or Creative Artworker
  • High-quality portfolio demonstrating excellent design and artwork across print and digital mediums
  • Experience producing materials within strict brand infrastructure
  • Impeccable attention to detail with consistent high-quality artwork
  • Experience managing workload in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Organisational skills to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities
  • Customer service, teamwork, and time management skills; strong interpersonal and listening skills
  • Influencing and communication skills to ensure adherence to brand
  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Excellent knowledge of outputting files for print and digital
  • Desirable: Good working knowledge of Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro
  • Desirable: Good working knowledge of PowerPoint and Word
  • Desirable: Experience using Teamwork Projects or similar project management tools
  • Desirable: Ability to advise on photo libraries and copyright licenses
  • Desirable: Interest in science
