Role Summary
The Designer supports the Society by producing design work within a strict brand infrastructure, working closely with all teams to deliver high-quality print and digital communications, including flyers, reports, factsheets, infographics, and digital assets. The role demands efficient project management and stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities
- Produce a wide range of design and art-working projects using templates and established styles within brand guidelines
- Create flyers, reports, factsheets, event marketing materials, programme booklets, infographics, and digital assets for various channels
- Ensure artwork is correctly set up for end use, format supplied text, and retouch or suggest alternative images when needed
- Create clear, engaging graphics and flow diagrams to communicate complex data and processes
- Guide stakeholders through the design process, advising on lead times and solutions
- Adapt and update project schedules using Teamwork Projects or similar tools, record changes and timings
- Balance multiple projects and deadlines, request guidance/support when needed
- Communicate effectively with the Design team to inform on project developments or delays
- Respond to client enquiries and resolve project-related issues, escalate when appropriate
- Develop effective working relationships with stakeholders
- Source imagery and iconography based on brand guidelines and advise colleagues
- Work with Print Manager to deliver printed materials to specifications, deadlines, budget, and quality
- Maintain organized project files, follow naming conventions and archive work
- Accurately log project hours
- Share ideas, knowledge, and contribute to process improvements within the team
Qualifications
- Relevant higher education qualification or proven experience as a Graphic Designer or Creative Artworker
- High-quality portfolio demonstrating precise design/art-working skills across print and digital
- Experience producing materials within strict brand infrastructure
- Impeccable attention to detail and consistent artwork quality
- Proven ability to deliver materials on time in a high-volume, fast-paced workplace
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
- Demonstrated customer service, teamwork, and time management
- Excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills; positive attitude
- Ability to motivate clients to adhere to best practice and brand standards
- Expert knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
- Strong knowledge of outputting files for print and digital
- Desirable: Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro
- Desirable: Working knowledge of PowerPoint and Word
- Desirable: Experience using Teamwork Projects or similar project management tools
- Desirable: Ability to advise on photo libraries and copyright licenses
- Desirable: Interest in science
