Designer

Role Summary

The Designer provides support in project administration, presentations, concept design, design development, and contract documents for interior and exterior projects, working under general supervision of a Senior Designer or Project Manager.

Responsibilities

• Develop architectural concepts for interior and exterior repositioning and adaptive projects
• Create design ideas and produce both presentation and construction drawings
• Draft technical drawings
• Oversee all design and drawings for smaller projects
• Review engineering and landscape drawings for design compliance
• Research and select fixtures and finishes with Senior Designer
• Ensure integration of design elements
• Develop preliminary concept plans for larger projects
• Finalize conceptual designs for smaller projects
• Supervise Intermediate Designer and guide on space plans
• Provide detail for interior and architectural design projects
• Deliver design and furniture packages for interiors and exteriors
• Assist in package development for larger projects
• Obtain and produce cost estimates
• Manage design budget for assigned projects
• Mentor Junior and Intermediate Designers

Qualifications

• Graduate of architecture or design school, or equivalent experience
• 6+ years’ experience in workplace design, especially building repositioning, adaptive re-use projects, and corporate interiors
• Extensive knowledge of design principles and workplace trends
• Advanced presentation and space planning skills
• Extensive knowledge of furnishings, finishes, and furniture layout concepts
• Advanced sketching, rendering, and architecture detailing skills
• Knowledge of construction documents and procedures
• Knowledge of building systems, codes, ADA requirements, and path of travel requirements
• Working knowledge of contract administration
• Intermediate MS Office Suite skills
• Advanced Revit skills
• Advanced Adobe Creative Suite skills
