Role Summary
The Product Designer will play an integral role in shaping the development of upcoming connected B2B products for Master Lock and Yale & August, focusing on designing elegant user experiences that span digital and physical interfaces.
Responsibilities
- Contribute user experience design spanning digital (mobile, web) and physical (devices) interfaces
- Collaborate with other designers and take initiative on specific product areas throughout the product lifecycle
- Leverage quantitative and qualitative data to inform design decisions and generate additional data sources when needed
- Communicate and collaborate with software and hardware product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders for solution alignment
- Advocate for refinements and improvements to the user experience based on user feedback and design principles
- Work across the design stack: explore problems, generate ideas, iterate flows and interactions, and build prototypes
- Plan and conduct user research activities, including research plans, user interviews, and synthesis of findings
- Participate in workshops and cross-functional sessions, contributing insights and supporting facilitation
- Collaborate with internal teams and ecosystem partners to create unified, seamless user experiences across multiple touchpoints
Qualifications
- 4+ years of design experience, including 1+ year focused on IoT products
- BA/BS in design, UX/UI, HCI, or equivalent practical experience
- Portfolio showcasing B2B product design work for web platforms and native mobile apps, including documented impact
- Experience contributing to end-to-end product design in agile/scrum environment on cross-functional teams
- Proficiency in Figma, including variants, variables, and building design system components
- Experience designing and contributing to design systems from component creation to documentation
- Familiarity with interaction design and prototyping tools like Protopie
- Familiarity with Jira for collaborative workflows
- Strong visual design skills and attention to polished, consistent interfaces
- Understanding of user-centered design principles
- Experience with user research including planning studies, conducting interviews, and synthesizing insights
- Holistic thinking about user experiences and micro-interactions
- Familiarity with user journeys, use cases, and user mental models
- Understanding of Material Design and Apple's Human Interface Guidelines
- Understanding of IoT device communication and platforms
- Experience leveraging AI tools in the design process
- Familiarity with Indi Young's Listening Deeply methodology
- Awareness of SwiftUI and Jetpack Compose capabilities (plus)
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills with cross-disciplinary teams
- Proactive mindset and drive to solve user problems
