Product Designer (who codes)

Role Summary

The Product Designer will drive the design of Augment Code’s AI-powered software creation tools, owning aspects from strategy to UI implementation. The role centers on designing engaging, ergonomic experiences for code-focused professionals through close collaboration with ML, engineering, and other teams.

Responsibilities

• Work with ML research team to improve discoverability and usability of AI assistant features across editors and web
• Collaborate with engineers to develop ergonomic UX solutions for editor limitations
• Host design workshops on productizing AI technologies
• Work with Developer Experience and Marketing to discover new user needs and product opportunities
• Contribute to and improve Augment’s design systems
• Drive product design from concept sketches, user flows, prototypes, through to shipping
• Test and validate design ideas via prototypes and user testing
• Partner with product and engineering to define requirements and sequencing

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience as a designer in SaaS and software authoring tools
• Comfortable prototyping in and working with code
• Ability to drive work forward and ship user-focused product experiences
• Experienced in systems thinking and design
• Strong sense of ownership and ability to self-manage
• Collaborative, with ability to partner across research, product, engineering, and design teams
