Role Summary
The Senior Product Designer will drive the design and development of connected Master Lock and Yale & August B2B products, owning end-to-end design processes and elevating user experiences across digital and physical interfaces within the connected home sector.
Responsibilities
- Utilize UX design, interaction design, prototyping, and visual design skills to deliver seamless user experiences across digital and physical products
- Own design independently across multiple product areas throughout the product lifecycle
- Leverage quantitative and qualitative data to inform design decisions and identify new data sources
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to align on strategy and solutions
- Advocate for user experience improvements using data and design principles
- Work across the entire design stack: refining problems, ideating solutions, iterating flows, building prototypes, producing high-fidelity visuals
- Facilitate and lead cross-functional workshops including journey mapping, design sprints, and critiques
- Plan, lead, and synthesize user research and testing activities
- Maintain comprehensive design documentation
- Collaborate to create unified user experiences across multiple touchpoints
- Mentor and support junior and mid-level designers through feedback and design reviews
Qualifications
- 6+ years of design experience, with 2+ years focused on IoT or connected products
- BA/BS in design, UX/UI, HCI, or equivalent professional experience
- Proven experience owning end-to-end product design in cross-functional agile/scrum teams
- Expert proficiency in Figma, including advanced variants, variables, and design system architecture
- Experience designing and governing design systems across multiple products/platforms
- Fluency with advanced prototyping tools (e.g., Protopie)
- Proficiency with Jira for project tracking and collaboration
- Exceptional visual design skills, delivering polished interfaces
- Deep understanding of user-centered design principles for digital and physical interactions
- Expert-level skills with user mental models, use cases, and user journeys
- Strong user research capabilities: planning, leading, facilitating workshops, synthesizing insights
- Detail-oriented with mastery in holistic thinking of user experiences
- Experience in design thinking workshops and collaborative activities
- Advanced understanding of Material Design and Apple's Human Interface Guidelines
- Knowledge of connected device communication and IoT platforms
- Basic understanding of electronics and firmware development for IoT
- Knowledge of SwiftUI and Jetpack Compose is a plus
- Experience leveraging AI tools and techniques in design
- Familiarity with Indi Young's Listening Deeply methodology
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills
- Proactive, self-directed approach to design and problem solving
- Experience in cross-functional collaboration and alignment
- Portfolio showcasing B2B product design for web and native mobile apps, including case studies from discovery to execution
